These days, wholesale android tablets (and smartphones) are more than sufficient for light email, surfing the web, watching streaming videos, playing casual games, and more, so it's no surprise that slates continue to sell at a rapid pace. What some might find a little shocking, however, is that tablet PC shipments will soon outpace notebooks shipments by a factor of 2:1.

According to DisplaySearch, tablet PC shipments will reach nearly 364 million units in 2014, more than doubling the projected 177 million shipments of standard notebook PC and ultra-slim PCs. By 2017, the discrepancy will be even bigger, with tablet shipments reaching 589 million and notebook PC shipments holding steady at 176 million.

"The PC market is clearly shifting away from notebooks and toward tablets," said Richard Shim, senior analyst with NPD DisplaySearch. "Supply chain indications reveal that previously planned production of notebook PCs is being pulled back due to declining adoption and that brands are gradually increasing the number of tablet PC models in their product mixes. Panel and finished goods suppliers are also increasing production of displays and other components for tablets in order to keep up with the market changes."dssS2SAAa

It helps that consumers have more choices than ever. As DisplaySearch notes, the tablets for sale PC market is evolving, offering a greater choice in screen sizes and price points. As long as you have access to a keyboard for long typing needs, a mouse for precise cursor placing, and an internet connection for your tablet, you are golden. Wait a minute, that IS a laptop. So a tablet with this setup is just an underpowered laptop. Didn't we already go through this with netbooks?

The unit itself is made for up to 10-inch tablets. It’s got a nice weight to it, definitely setting it apart from most other generic keyboards. The slot that holds the tablet is fixed in size, so no moving parts to break. The keys are solid and feel just as nice as the average laptop keyboard, though at about 80% of the overall size. A charging cable was included, but it’s a generic mini-USB connection so you can use pretty much any other one to recharge the unit.

I grabbed the next tablet, my wife’s Samsung Galaxy Tab, and it paired quickly and worked fine…just like with my phone. Figuring it might be great with Samsung but maybe not others, I kept going. It worked well with two more tablets and even an iPad. In fact, it worked with virtually everything with which I tested it.
